How can Kanji Book recognize handwritten Japanese characters?

If you want Kanji Book to recognize handwritten Japanese (kanji, hiragana and katakana), you will need to install the Japanese language pack for Windows 8. Adding a language pack is easy, and you can have more than one. You can keep your current language as the display language in Windows. If more than one person is using the computer, each person can choose their own display language. For example, one user can choose Japanese, and another person can choose English.

After installing the Japanese language pack, you can select it for handwriting recognition in Kanji Book by opening the bottom app bar, and clicking or tapping the Language button.
